After leaving Dunhill last year, Kim Jones did not appear worried that he might not have anywhere to go. After all, he still had his own line. But these days, many designers often design for more than one label. So, it’s not surprising that he would be snapped up. Only thing a little unexpected is that he would be working for LV, now confirmed by his Tweet about his “first day at work as directeur du style pret a porter homme at LOUIS VUITTON!”
Mr Jones will replace Paul Helbers, who had worked with Marc Jacobs for five years and left, according to LV, to take “back his freedom to realize other projects”. It would be interesting to see how a Brit and an American pair up, one known for his “modernist casualwear” and the other for his ’70s disco leanings, among many decades-past inspirations.
