These pictures stand out at Siam Center for their simplicity and lack of graphical over-ornamentation. Given what many of the brands here put out on their shelves, Adidas SLVR’s clothes seen here are even more significant because they do not represent what is typical of the complex.
When I first stepped into the SLVR store on level one shortly after they opened some months ago, I was struck by the clean lines and muted colours of the collection. There was a Japanese sensibility to the clothes too, in the details, and, in particular, the shapes. It is probably inappropriate to say this, but, to me, there was something Y3 about SLVR.
Since that day, every time I pass the shop, I do not see anyone inside. One Saturday afternoon, I was on an escalator when I heard a guy pointing out the SLVR shop to his girlfriend, who said, without looking at where he was directing her attention, “You don’t have to see it. You won’t like it. It’s boring.”
